Welcome to the Digital Language shell.
This project was established to support Indigenous people to share their language and culture online under Indigenous authority.
In 2019 the Digital Language Shell was used to deliver the first online Bininj Kunwok course, through Charles Darwin University and the Australian National University.
The course will be offered again in Semester 2, 2020. go to our dedicated web page for more information, or sign up to our mailing list here:
If you have any questions about the course, or about using the shell for your own language, please email the coordinator.
There is a set of sample lessons available from an early draft of the Bininj Kunwok course in 2016 – this is available here:
This course has been updated and is now offered as an accredited course through Charles Darwin University – visit https://bininj-kunwok.cdu.edu.au/ for information. There are also occasional short courses offered, with a significantly improved curriculum. For other opportunities to learn Bininj Kunwok, sign up to our mailing list
The research team would like to acknowledge the support of the Bininj Kunwok Language Project Reference Committee, Charles Darwin University, the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language, and the Department of Education and Training.
